The Power of Water
Nov 29, 2017You already know what to eat.
Eat breakfast, eat smaller meals, avoid eating too late.
Reduce processed food and eliminate refined sugar.
You already know what to drink.
Less carbonate sugar drinks (Red Bull unfortunately will not give your wings, but an ulcer)
Moderate in alcohol
You know the value of green juices, the power in reducing coffee, and the transformative energy boost that lies in drinking water.
You know this.
But it is so hard to give up those morning egg croissant.
Or that sweet taste of Coca Cola.
Did you know that drinking water helps reduce the craving for that which does not serve us?
Drinking a cup of a water before eating a meal will prevent you from over eating.
Drinking a cup of water when you first wake up helps elimination and activate metabolism.
Drinking more water will clear your skin.
More water in the body helps control stomach fat.
“But I drink green tea,” clients often tell me when I invite them to add more water to their days.
“Green tea has just as much caffeine as coffee,” I point out. “Caffeine actually pull moisture from the cells, rather than hydrate them.”
“Just because it is liquid does not make it water,” I add.
Clients are afraid of failure. They are afraid that if I tell them to stop drinking their favorite morning pick up they will give up too quickly.
“You need not take away anything,” I share. “Just ADD. Add more water to your days. Drink a cup of water before a meal for instance. Or drink two cups right when you wake up. Add water to your days, and you will see changes within days.”
Drink 8 cups of water a day and you will:
experience more energy
sleep better
think more clearly
feel less fatigue in the middle of the day
improve skin and muscle function
It is hard to change our habits.
In fact in their book ‘Power of Full Engagement” Jim Loehr and Tony Schwartz point out that it takes 30 days to form a new habit.
That’s the power of a health coach, they help provide accountability and support as we go through the natural up and down as we stabilize into our new habit
Here are simple action tips to help you ADD more water to your day:
Place a cup of water at your bed side and drink it first thing when you wake up. Perhaps as you walk to the bathroom.
Drink a cup of room temperature water before every meal
Have a cup of water at your desk and be sure to drink it in full before lunch and another before you leave at the end of the day.
Set a phone reminder to drink at cup of water for every 3 hours.
All changes experience resistance.
Don’t judge yourself.
